Our UK-based client, Callie, taught in schools across the UK and recognized the importance of personalized teaching, which can often be overlooked in traditional, busy classrooms. She envisioned creating a primary education-focused online tutoring platform catering to learners in the age group of 5-12.
The business idea involved launching an online tutoring platform that would work on a semester system, offering term-based sessions. Moreover, the client wanted to provide a feature-rich and personalized learning experience, in addition to seamlessly onboarding talented educators and creating a global community on the platform.
Defining the Requirements - Key Challenges
To bring their business idea to life, the client aimed to launch an online tutoring platform, offering one-on-one learning and courses referred to as the "tuition clubs". Previously, the client had used TutorCruncher, a SaaS-based tutoring software, to implement her business idea. However, over time, its limitations & subscription-based pricing model no longer aligned with the evolving needs of the business.
The client has now been seeking a readymade software solution that provides lifetime ownership along with advanced capabilities and functionalities. Additionally, the client wanted to incorporate specific customizations to better align the platform with their business goals.

To support the semester system business model, customizations were implemented, enabling the admin to manage semesters on the platform, editing the title, description, start, and end dates of the semester. Similarly, homepage updates were implemented so that users can access the details of semesters easily.
Paid Trials
The client wanted to offer paid trial sessions rather than free trials to learners; hence, customizations were done, enabling the admin to define the duration and price of the trial sessions.
Admin-Manageable Global Pricing
As per the business model requirements of the client, this customization enables the admin to enter the subject pricing for each time slot separately, which will automatically be updated for tutors.
Checkout Flow Enhancements
Checkout flow enhancements were implemented to align it with the specific requirements (semester system) of the client, providing convenience and flexibility to users. An automatic week-based calendar has been updated, followed by changes in the payment route.
